FAM Program Rebrand
The Family Association Membership Program is an extension of the University of North Alabama’s new student orientation, dedicated to guiding parents through the first year of enrollment. This program offers monthly newsletters and educational resources to assist parents in supporting their first-year students.
During my internship with the UNA Student Orientation and Academic Readiness (SOAR), I was tasked with rebranding the Parents of the Pride Society (POPS) to the FAM Program by creating a new logo and T-shirt design for the following school year.
Sketch Inspiration
My inspiration for the sketches of the new logo was to include the mascot of the university, a lion, and an image to reflect the incoming student class. Many of the parents I spoke to expressed their concerns about leaving their student alone and how this was the first time they were leaving home.
The logo needed to reassure parents that while their student may be inexperienced now, they were in a safe place to grow into the adult they need to be.
The Challenge
Once I submitted the sketches to the Marketing Department, I was told the logo:
- could not incorporate any paw prints
Paw prints could be tied to other Universities with pawed animals. Due to this, my third sketch was chosen.
Final Logo
The final logo features the lion mascot with a cub residing inside of it to represent the growth each student will have by the end of their educational journey through the mentorship and support from their family.
This design comes in multiple color variations, including two and solid colors.
T-shirt Design
Once the logo was finalized, I enlisted the help of a fellow designer to create the following T-shirt design.
